Your 1st Visit
Your first Orthodontic Visit with us is not just about treating bite problems or moving teeth with various types of appliances, it's about treating people. We want to make your decision to do something good for yourself an easy one. We want you to feel comfortable and to know that braces can help you to look, feel and live a better life. Therefore, our first step is to get to know you; to find out more about you and about your specific concerns and expectations. Once we know exactly what you want and need, we can tell you about us and how we can help you achieve your goals.
First we gather information from the patient medical health history form, then we take a digital panoramic radiograph (as needed) and a few photographs.
You will then meet Dr. DeSantos who will conduct an initial visual exam and provide you with a preliminary diagnosis. We will be happy to answer any questions, as well as address any concerns regarding any aspect of your visit:
- Whether or not you need treatment
- Why is it necessary
- What your treatment choices/options are
- What orthodontic appliances could be used: Metal braces, Ceramic braces, Invisible braces
- The estimated length of treatment
- Your financial options and most comfortable payment plan to meet your needs
Sometimes, with very young patients, immediate treatment is NOT needed. In that case, we'll place your child in our Recall or Observation System and continue to monitor his or her development in order to minimize future problems. This FREE SERVICE is offered as a courtesy to you. If treatment is necessary, we move on to the next step, records.
Diagnostic Records will have to be taken so that we have a record of what your condition is before we begin treatment and for a final treatment plan to be determined. This consists of:
- Two special radiographs
- Photographs of your teeth
- Photographs of your face
- An impression of your teeth
The records can usually be done at the first appointment or can be rescheduled at a more convenient time. In our practice, we work as a team, and the most important member of our team is you. Your commitment to any orthodontic treatment is essential for its success, so take an active role in your own health and happiness and call today.
We are looking forward to meeting you.!
